In the Jerusalem School’s analysis, Mark is the “Re-Write Man”: a dramatized retelling of the more primitive Gospel of Luke, not an independent account. Far from the kind of historiography Luke wrote, Mark reworks roughly half of Luke’s earlier and more authentic wording, substituting synonyms and expressions drawn from other Old and New Testament books, as Robert L. Lindsey documented, and these articles trace that rewriting in detail.
